How GTA 5 Fans Discovered a Lost Soundtrack from a Scrapped DLC

A band called Sweet Valley posted a track called Clifford in 2021, which could be from the canceled Trevor expansion for GTA 5.

The Mystery of Clifford

GTA 5 is one of the most successful and popular video games of all time, but it also has some secrets that remain hidden even after a decade of its release. One of them is a soundtrack called Clifford, which was posted online by a band named Sweet Valley in 2021. The band has a history of working with Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA 5, and some fans believe that this track is from an unreleased DLC that was planned for the game.

The Trevor DLC That Never Was

The DLC in question was supposed to focus on Trevor Philips, one of the three protagonists of GTA 5. According to Steven Ogg, the actor who voiced Trevor, the DLC would have shown a different side of the character, who was an undercover agent for the FIB, the game’s version of the FBI. “He’s still kind of a f*ck up but he’s doing his best,” Ogg said in an interview. However, the DLC was canceled by Rockstar Games, who decided to focus on GTA Online, the multiplayer mode of GTA 5. Ned Luke, the actor who voiced Michael De Santa, another protagonist of GTA 5, confirmed this in another interview. “They went to GTA Online, I believe, for that stuff,” he said.

The Discovery of Clifford

The track called Clifford was posted by Sweet Valley on their Bandcamp page in 2021, but it went largely unnoticed until recently, when a YouTube channel called GTA Focal brought it to the attention of the GTA community. The channel speculated that the track was from the Trevor DLC, based on the band’s involvement with Rockstar Games and the track’s title, which could be a reference to Clifford Unger, a character from Death Stranding, another game that featured Ogg as an actor. The track has a dark and ominous vibe, which could fit the tone of the DLC. However, there is no official confirmation from Rockstar Games or Sweet Valley that this track is indeed from the scrapped DLC.
